Bod almost falls for it. For it is often hard to stay to the true path of art. The weight of society tends to get to us. There are hard days, weeks months and years.
You often get the desire to just walk away.
... BONK! The apple comes down on his head and knocks him flat.
RESULT! Just when the artist is about to walk away from the art. Just when all belief is gone. Just when everybody is ranged against you, when everybody has better things to do, when the thought of a secure post at the Arts Council becomes quite appealling. BONK! The art itself turns round and wallops you upside the head. And there's nothing more exciting than that.
