I got sent one of those chain emails, in powerpoint. The text of the message is below (excluding the ridiculous claim that you get good luck if you send it to 20 people).

 
The proverb is aimed at being happy without money, except I realized that without money many of these claims fall down.

    •  Buy a house, but not a home       •  You cannot buy a home, nor pay the bills  
    •  Buy a bed, but not sleep       •  You have no bed, so sleep poorly  
    •  Buy a clock, but not time       •  You have no clock, and miss important events  
    •  Buy a book, but not knowledge       •  You cannot pay for your education  
    •  Buy food, but not an appetite       •  You are hungry  
    •  Buy medicine, but not good health       •  You cannot pay the doctor so your health stays bad  
    •  Buy a position, but not respect       •  Nobody respects a poor man  
    •  Buy blood, but not life       •  Your life is a poor one  
    •  Buy insurance, but not safety       •  You are not secure  
    •  Buy sex, but not love       •  Except women do not want to be with a poor man
