In front of a Victorian Recruiting poster for the navy she is wearing the crossed swords of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. Not swords for fighting but swords for dancing; at the end of the dance the dancers form a huddle and hold up the magic knot they have made. We went to many places to find the music, and mainly dance music where the wicked rhythms and the lamprey tunes of a clearer time are found. |
